Kalpa is one of the hidden places of Himachal Pradesh, where there is neither rain nor over tourism. There is only the company of peaceful mountains and snow-covered peas along with a peaceful environment.
Situated in Kinnaur district on a high chain of 2960 meters, it is a small village in Himachal. It keeps the Himachali and Tibetan culture alive. If you are looking for peace and tranquillity in the mountains, you will find it here along with mountains and snow-covered peas along with a peaceful environment.

How to reach?

It is situated at a remote location in Himachal, so it is a long journey but the journey itself makes the destination more enjoyable.
You will have to take a long journey to reach there but a journey is a journey and there is a different kind of fun in asking your destination.

• By Road:
You have to reach from Delhi → Shimla → Rampur → Reckong Peo → Kalpa
• By Bus:
Direct Volvo or HRTC bus comes to Shimla from Delhi. HRTC buses are available from there till Reckong Peo. It is just 6 km away from Peo.
• Self-Drive:
Self-driving is a wonderful experience. If you are thinking of going by self-drive then you should have good driving skills. You can have a dreamy experience while driving on NH-5 and enjoying the beautiful views. But if the road is zig zag and narrow then you need to drive confidently.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit in summer is from April to June, where you can enjoy the spring blossoms and pleasant weather.
If you come in winter, the best time is from September to November, where you can enjoy the clear peace and ripe apples. But there is snowfall from December to February and the roads here also become risky.
Avoid coming during monsoon from July to August as it is a landslide prone area.

 Places to visit

1. Kinner Kailash Range
Kinner Kailash Parvat Mala is the most highlighted place. It is a sacred mountain which is considered holy by both Hindu and Buddhist communities. When the sun rises or sets here, the colour of the sunlight changes, sometimes golden, sometimes pinkish or orange. It looks as if it has been cut out from a postcard.

2. Narayan-Nagini Temple
Nagini Temple, decorated with Himalayan wooden architecture, will mesmerize you after seeing this small temple situated in the middle of the village. Local people regularly come here for worship. The temple is surrounded by mountains and apple trees which make this place divine.
3. Hu-Bu-Lan-Kar Monastery
Located here, Hu-Bu-Lan-Kar Monastery is a Tibetan style monastery which is considered to be the home of a Calmness. You can sit here and enjoy the view of the valley and also experience meditation. The monks here are saintly and friendly. If you request, we will also arrange a tour of the monastery for you.
 4. Suicide Point
Don’t worry how you felt after hearing the name – it is just a name. It is called suicide point because of the deep valley and narrow cliff. This is a breath-taking spot on Roghi road. One can see the panoramic view of Kinnaur valley. This place is perfect for photographers and nature lovers.
5. Chaka Meadows
Yes friends, if you like trekking then you can try an easy trek of 3-4 km. After reaching the top, you will find lush green meadows, snow-capped peaks and peace. This trek is the best-kept secret.

 Culture & Local Life

If you want to see the real life of the hill people then you must come here. You must know that hill people are hardworking, simple and very warm hearted. They wear Kinnauri caps and get woollen shawls from the people who meet you and welcome you with a smile and say Namaste.

Farming & Orchards

It is a city known as the apple bowl of India. Here you will find apple orchards, apricots, walnut and pine trees. The harvesting season is from August to September. People here have a way of earning their livelihood from this.

Religion & Beliefs

Traditional Food

If you talk about food, you will find simple and healthy food, but most of it is locally grown Chinese. If you talk about food, you will find siddu, cha gosht, ogla ki roti, sattu, drinks and salted tea. If you stay home, you will get a unique taste of the food.

Important Travel Tips

Altitude Sickness: Above 3000-meter height This causes lack of oxygen. Keep drinking water and go out in the cold on the first day.
Weather: Bring warm clothes like gloves, jackets and stylus as it is always cold here even in summers.
Network: BSNL and Jio work a little. Airtel is weak.
Cash: There is no ATM due to which you may face cash problems. To avoid this, withdraw cash from Peo only.
Respect Locals: Take permission before taking photos, do not wear shoes in the temple.
